Drum majors, captain lead band

The Hart County Marching Band is a group with a lot of youth compared to past years. It’s also fortunately led by a student leadership core to help bring underclassmen up to speed on the expectations of longtime director Alan Tolbert.

Steve Schyck is loving life

By Drew Dotson Staff writer   Retirement is going swimmingly for Steve Schyck in Hartwell after 52 years in public and private education. On most fair weather days, Schyck can be found at the YMCA in Hartwell swimming laps or hitting the pickleball on the court.

  The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: Oct. 12 •A man was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. Oct. 13 •Brian Taylor Chastain, 45, of Royston, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, probation violation and violation of family violence order.

Superintendent reports North Hart traffic improvements

A small change at North Hart Elementary alleviated years of traffic headaches on Lavonia Highway. At the Oct. 18, Hart County Board of Education meeting, superintendent Jay Floyd said he has received positive feedback from many people on the addition of an additional car rider line at North Hart.

Gym exclusively for women opens in Hartwell

Physique Boutique, Hartwell’s first women-only gym, opened last week at 88 S Forest. The studio — which offers personal and group training, nutritional guidance and regular weight training / gym-use — was the brainchild of developer Charlene Fields.
