Skelton-Morris celebrates 110 years of coverage in Hart County

As one of Hart County’s oldest businesses, Skelton-Morris Associates has been helping people insure their assets for more than 110 years. The business began in 1912 when A.C “Gus” Skelton began writing insurance policies in Hartwell, calling his firm A.C. Skelton Insurance Agency.

1913: Hart County residents were in for a shock when they were alerted to an earthquake. According to eyewitness reports, windows and houses began to shake, terrifying residents. The earthquake only lasted for a few seconds, but it was enough to stir all of Hartwell as to what had just occurred.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests: Jan. 4 •Corinna Carmen Crumpton, 30, of Toccoa, was arrested and charged with electronically furnishing obscene material to minors and sexual assault against a person in custody.

Airport authority displeased with federal funding allotment

Rolling Chefs owner Omar Vega confirmed this week that he will be opening a new restaurant in Hartwell at the location most recently known as Backtracks.
