The Hart County Board of Equalization is seeking an ALTERNATE MEMBER for the Board of Equalization. This is NOT a part time position or job.
This position consists of being on a three-member board and hearing tax appeals for Hart County.
This consists of being available for call for approximately six weeks starting the end of October and going through November. When working you would normally be scheduled to work an eight-hour day but if appeals are canceled or you have no shows you would not have to work the full day. The pay is $100.00 per each full day you worked.
This is a position that would require you to submit an application to the Hart County Clerk of Superior Court and then said application would be presented to the August 2026 Grand Jury for appointment to said Board. They are certain criteria for being a member. One being that you own land in Hart County and over 18 years of age.
This position would require you to attend a 40-hour training course online for which you would be paid for attending just as if you were hearing appeals.
This position runs for a three-year period and you would then seek reappointment if you so choose.

Invitation to Bid
Alum Sludge Removal
and Disposal
City of Hartwell, Georgia

Separate sealed Bids, for furnishing all materials, labor, tools, equipment and appurtenances necessary for Alum Sludge Removal & Disposal will be received by the Owner in the Council Chambers at the Hartwell City Hall, 456 East Howell St., Hartwell, Georgia, until 1:00 PM, local time, on July 28, 2026 and then at said office, publicly opened and read aloud. Any sealed bids received after this date and time will not be accepted.
The City of Hartwell owns and operates two (2) sludge lagoons at the City's Water Treatment Plant on Reed Creek Hwy. Each lagoon is approximately .2 acres in size and is holding approximately 7-foot depth of sludge.
The Project consists of but is not limited to the following major elements: Furnishing all materials, tools, equipment, and labor necessary for removing solids from the water treatment plant lagoons, dewatering the material, and transporting it for disposal. Material may be transported to a permitted landfill for disposal or to beneficial us sites for land application. If land applied, the material shall be registered with the Department of Agriculture as a “soil amendment”, and the material shall be applied at proper agronomic rates based on recent analysis. All load logs and field logs and shall be provided daily to Treatment Plant Staff when removing from site. Estimated quantity of sludge is 3,315 CY.
The Owner will take the first lagoon off-line to allow the lagoon to decant prior to Contractor mobilization.
Payment will be based on the actual quantities removed.
The work will be awarded in one Contract. Time of completion for all work associated with this project shall be 120 consecutive calendar days from the date of written “Notice to Proceed” from Owner.
Insurance certificate minimum of one million dollars general liability is required. Coverage shall remain in force, at all times, during the term of the contract at the Bidders sole expense.
The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, to waive informalities, to readvertise, and to award the contract to the best and most responsible bidder.
No bidder may withdraw his bid within 60 days after the opening thereof.
All bids shall be submitted using the attached bid form. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to the Owner. All bids must be sealed and marked on the outside with Project Name and Company Name. Envelopes containing bids must be addressed as follows, and delivered to:
