Eva Thelka Eisenhut was born in 1928 in Apolda, a small town that later became part of Communist East Germany. She was the oldest of four girls living with their parents in a four-room upstairs apartment. Poor but happy, they were a close family.

A retired newspaper gal always honors our veterans

Veterans Day stands as one of our favorite observances of the year here in Hart County. While it’s fitting moment to pause and reflect on the immeasurable contributions made by our veterans, it also gives the newspaper a week or so to work with one of our old colleagues.

Urgent call for Thanksgiving donations

With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, regional non-profit Love Him Love Them is asking the community to provide warmth and care to vulnerable families and individuals.

Hart 4-H competes in Forestry Field Day

4-H Students from Hart County competed in the Forestry Field Day contest at Sandy Creek Nature Center in Athens Sept. 4. At the end of the last school year, 4-H students spent time learning how to identify 44 tree species, 17 insects that affect trees, and 14 tree diseases and disorders.
