Cross country competes in Gainesville

The Hart County cross-country teams faced tough competition at the North Hall Invitational 2022 on Thursday. The Bulldogs traveled to North Hall High School in Gainesville on Sept. 8. The boys team placed 13th out of 25 total teams competing with a score of 300.

Senior Lydia Burroughs has had to make several fundamental changes to her game over the course of her softball career. During her senior season, she was tasked with playing a different position to start the season.

Lady Diamond Dogs still winless in region play

After starting their season 6-1, the Lady Diamonds Dogs are 0-4 in region play over the past two weeks. The Hart County High School softball team traveled to Carnesville to play Franklin County High School on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Hart adds four wins on the road

The Volleydogs started a winning streak on the road this past week. The Hart County High School volleyball team traveled to Madison County on Thursday, Sept. 8 and faced off against North Oconee and Madison County.

Earl Johnson is loving life

Hart County has incurred a lot of changes since its inception: A dam was installed in 1963, the valley was flooded, an interstate was built in 1960, etc. But structures come and go, businesses grow and fold.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:   Sept. 6 •Catherine Harris, 37, of Hartwell, was arrested and charged with burglary, possession of drug related objects, battery and cruelty to children in the third degree.

# Throwback Thursday

1916: Twenty cans of black bass fish were brought to Hartwell from a government fishery, and were distributed to various points along the Savannah River by a number of curious Hart County residents.
