Hart County Sheriff’s Office Captain Chris Carroll will be the only candidate for sheriff on November’s ballot, after time ran out for opponent Tracy Mize to file a notification to run as a write-in candidate.

Archery deer hunting season opens Sept. 14

Bow hunters in Hart County, rejoice! According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) statewide archery deer hunting season opens up to the public this Saturday, Sept. 14. Last year, 85,000 archery hunters harvested 55,000 deer.

The Hart County Community Theatre invites the public to support its production of Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery play, The Mousetrap, beginning on opening night, Sept. 20.

County to continue funding Chamber

After the Hartwell City Council’s meeting Monday night, numerous members of the public gathered at the Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting to hear the county’s stance on the same subject: the Chamber of Commerce’s firing of Lindsey Ingle.

City council “reevaluating” Chamber funding

Hartwell Mayor Brandon Johnson stated that the city council is “completely reevaluating” whether or not to continue funding the Chamber of Commerce after the Chamber’s executive committee terminated Executive Director Lindsey Ingle without consulting its full board of directors.

Volley Dogs remain competitive while picking up a lone win in four match stretch

The Volley Dogs split at home while remaining competitive in both losses at East Jackson. On Aug. 29, Hart hosted the Lady Rams of Westside of Anderson, S.C. and the Lady Raiders of Madison County. In the first match against Westside, the Volley Dogs claimed the first set win, 27-25.

Cross Country places fourth and sixth at TFS Heroes Invitational

The Hart County High School boys cross country team continue their success while the girls look to improve. On Aug. 29, the HCHS boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Tallulah Falls School to compete in the annual TFS Heroes Invitational.
