Confession good for the soul, even for newspaper editors

Newspaper reporters and editors are just ordinary people who want to get it right. In a recent column about Mordecai Wilson, a 99-year-old resident of tiny Lula, Ga., I reported that he and his wife, Mary, set up two special homes when they lived in Boston.

The nine-banded armadillo has become an enemy of the homeowner over the past 50 years as it has spread throughout the Southeastern United States, and Hart County homeowners are no exception. Armadillos are often found digging around in yards and on roadsides foraging for their next meal.

Hellish hurricanes help put things into perspective

Albert Einstein theorized that things (such as time, space, mass and motion) are relative. To me, that suggests putting things into perspective. In a seven-day span, my personal perspective couldn’t have been more powerful if a jackhammer had been pounding inside my brain.
