The convenience of inconvenience

By Madison Lintonnews@thehartwellsun.comMy usual Sunday scaries routine of dread and sitting silently in my bedroom changed this past weekend.
A home-grown tomato sandwich is a celebration of summer. All you need is a slice of juicy tomato big enough to cover a piece of white bread, a slathering of Duke’s mayonnaise and sprinkles of salt and pepper. And if you like BLTs, by all means, add bacon and lettuce. Photo by Dink NeSmith.

Rainy-day traveling on hodgepodge highway

Here I sit.For the last two hours, my brain has been idling in neutral. There’s something about rain on a tin roof. Inducing laziness, I guess. And then, I put on my thinking cap, shifting my gray matter into gear.I can’t explain why my brain chose to ramble along this hodgepodge highway.

Peach perfect

There's nothing like a fresh, juicy, ripe peach in the summertime. You know, those kind where you can scrape the peeling off with your fingers as you work to de-pitt the fruits for a fresh cobbler or homemade ice cream.Peaches are hands-down my favorite fruit.

She loved

I'll never forget the words my Daddy told me after his grandfather, my great-grandfather, died. I was a sophomore in high school, and it was the first "real" loss of a loved one I'd experienced.
