Sybil Jones Sanders, 81, of Hartwell, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton.
Born on October 2, 1939 in Hartwell, she was the daughter of the late Ray Hall Jones and Mary Adams Jones. Mrs. Sanders was a graduate of Forrest College in Anderson, S.C., a former deputy clerk at the Hart County Clerk of Court Office and a former paralegal. She was also a breast cancer survivor, member of the Red Hat Society, the Sardis Baptist Church and the Faithful Sunday School Class. She was a dedicated and wonderful cook, gardener, homemaker, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include one son, Gregory Alton Sanders and his lifelong companion, Katrina Trahan; one daughter, Gwendolyn Mary Shiflet and her husband Mike all of Hartwell; four grandchildren: Elias Ray Sanders, Madison Paige Sanders, Sybil Elizabeth Shiflet and her fiancé, Jacob Murphy and Mikayla Grace Marcengill and her husband Zachary; four great-grandchildren: Mason Grant Sanders, Bryson Alton Sanders, MaKensie Nicole Sanders, Gregory Ray Sanders and a special great-grand, Madalyn Grace Beard. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alton Brodus Sanders; a son, Grant Ray Sanders; a sister, Barbara Ray Jones and a brother, Ronnie Ray Jones.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 12, at the Sardis Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Kimberly and Rev. John Silver officiating. Burial was in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. 
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Jacob Dareian Murphy, Zachary Donald Marcengill, Wesley Barron Sanders, Elias Ray Sanders, Charlie Ray Jones, Kevin Thomas Conway, Nick Allen Harris, Ronald Scott Jones, Michael Gaines Jones, Timothy Lamar Jones, Marty Adams and Gregory Alton Sanders.
Memorials may be made to the Sardis Baptist Church, 4359 Anderson Hwy., Hartwell, GA 30643.
