Melvin Williams
Melvin "Clifton" Williams, 85, of Hiram, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Melvin was born on June 27, 1935, to his late parents, Grady and Bessie Williams. 
Mr. Williams was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hiram, and worked for the CDC for 32 years. Melvin and his wife Shirley were married for 67 years and he was known as the best Popo in the world. He loved gardening and water skiing, but most of all his family. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Melvin Stanley "Stan" Williams; sisters: Diane Cantrell, Frankie Bandy, and Carol Young; and brother, Larry Williams.  
Melvin is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Williams; honorary adopted son, Gordon Moore; sister, Joyce (Wendell) Sullivan; grandchildren:  Cristal (Scotty) Hix, Erica (Phillip) Young; great-grandchildren: Alex Miranda, Kirsten Hix, Savana Lowe and Peyton Hix; daughter-in-law, Cindy Williams; along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, at Clark Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Gibbs and Pastor Billy Driskell officiating. Interment followed at Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery.
