Ms. Mary Ann Venable Toney, 85, of Timberlane Drive, Hartwell, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at her home.
Born on December 23, 1934 in Jackson County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Harold Edward Venable and Mary Ruth Massey Venable. Ms. Toney was a retired secretary for the U.S. Corps of Engineers - Hartwell Project, and she was a member of the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
Ms. Toney is survived by two daughters: Rita T. Hart (Jerry) and Jan Madden, both of Hartwell; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Ms. Toney is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Teresa Clubb; two brothers: Larry Venable and Wayne Venable; and a sister, Madlyne Allen.
Because of the current conditions concerning the health and well-being of our community, the family will not be having a formal visitation.  They ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts and prayers in the coming days and weeks. 
Ms. Toney wished to be cremated. A Celebration of Mary Ann's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 19, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Pastor Michele May and Rev. Adam Daniels officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Hill UMC, 1473 Liberty Hill Church Road, Hartwell, GA 30643 or the American Cancer Society, 105 West Park Dr., Suite C, Athens GA 30606.
