Marien Smith Brown, 86, of Old Hartwell Road, Elberton, wife of the late Noah Donald Brown, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family. 
She was born in Oglethorpe County on July 6, 1933, one of 14 children of the late Walter Lee Smith and Monnie Mae Pearson Smith. She was a textile weaver having worked at Elberton Silk Mill and JP Stevens in Calhoun Falls, S.C. Following retirement, she enjoyed sitting with people at Magnolia Estates. Mrs. Marien was a dedicated member of Vineyard Creek Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed vacations, spending time with her family, singing in the church choir, and living life to the fullest. 
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Barry Lunsford of Elberton; daughter-in-law, Regina Brown of Bowman; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 
In addition to her parents and husband, she was  preceded in death by three sons: Larry Brown, Travis Brown, and Curtis Brown; one grandson; and siblings: Frances Britt, Dealer Hackett, Lilly Mae Stevens, Louien Lee, Margie Griffith, William Smith, Albert Smith, Samuel Smith, Lonnie Smith, Virgil Smith, Curtis Smith, Edgar Smith, and Long Smith.
Funeral services celebrating her life were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, at Vineyard Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Williams and the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Derek Brown, Lance Brown, Ryan Brown, Bobby Duck, Trey Duck, Austin Duck, and Brayden Rice honored as pallbearers.
