Maribeth Schleier, 89, of Canon, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021, in Kennesaw.
    Born Maribeth Edmondson, on July 31, 1931, in Ottumwa, Iowa, Maribeth was the daughter of the late Helen and Carroll Edmondson. She graduated from Ottumwa High School and from the nursing program at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ottumwa, becoming a registered nurse. She married her beloved husband, John G. Schleier, Jr., in Ottumwa, Iowa, on November 7, 1952. John and Maribeth, married for more than 62 years, were parted by John's death in 2014.
    Maribeth's survivors include six of her seven children: Dr. John G. Schleier III, and his wife Kathy, of Dalton, Anne C. Tkacs, and her husband Thomas, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Marilyn M. Ramsey, and her husband Clay, of Powder Springs, Amy S. Phillips, and her husband Frank, of Hartwell, Christopher J. Schleier, and his wife Joanne, of Kennesaw, and Mark S. Schleier of Canon. Maribeth is survived by 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Maribeth was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy J. Schleier, a granddaughter, Maribeth Longmire, and a brother, Francis Edmondson.
    A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Hartwell. The family will receive friends at the Church starting at 9:30 a.m. prior the service on June 26.
