Mrs. Lucy Ruth Kennedy Saylors, 80, of Bethany Bowersville Road, Canon, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020 at Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta, Ga.
Born on May 7, 1939 in Carnesville, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James Rubin "Doc" Kennedy and Mozelle Ayers Kennedy. Mrs. Saylors was a former seamstress for Hartwell Sports and was a member of the Flat Shoals Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters: Veronica Owens (Tony) of Hartwell and Linda Brock of Canon; one brother, James Kennedy of Carnesville; four sisters: Geneva Alexander of Commerce, Juanita Thompson of Lavonia, Dorothy Layton of Commerce, and Virginia Kennedy of Commerce; two grandchildren: Dillan Brock and Shonda Risner; and three great-grandchildren.  Mrs. Saylors was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Lawrence Saylors; two brothers: John Kennedy and David Kennedy; one sister, Doris Bond; and two grandchildren: Michael Cook and Emily Brock.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home.  Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. Wendell Bannister officiating. Entombment will be in the Franklin Memorial Garden-North, Lavonia.
