Louise Hewin Turner, age 88, of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at her home. 
Born March 8, 1931, in Lavonia, she was a daughter of the late E. J. and Maude (Grant) Hewin. She was a 1948 graduate of Lavonia High School, where she was president of the 4H Club, reporter for Beta Club, and was editor of the school paper. She attended West Georgia College before marrying the late James Howard Turner in 1950. She worked in the UGA Extension Office for 31 years. She began her career as a secretary, while going to college, and worked her way to being the Extension 4H Agent, Hart County Extension Agent, and finally the Extension Co-Director for Hart County. She served for several years on the Hart County Board of Tax Assessors. 
She is survived by her children: Virginia Wade, James D. "Jimmy" Turner and wife Jimmie Ann, Susan Odom, and Linda T. Parris and husband Ken; grandchildren: Amy L. Odom, Melissa A. Clifton and husband Greg, and David G. Turner; and great-grandchildren: Landon Garrett-Clifton, Carter Clifton, Adele Clifton, and Nathan Robinson. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Dorothy Evelyn H. MacKay, Mary Elizabeth H. Ray, and Ann H. Price. 
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 17, at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
