Loren D. Englebright, Jr., 89, of Pompano Beach, Fla., passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2020, at The Woodlands in John Knox Retirement Village.
Loren was born in Poseyville, in southern Indiana on July 18, 1930, to the late Loren D. Englebright and Lucy Holland Englebright. In 1977, he married Winnie Stovall Weldon Englebright from Hartwell who died in 1986, and Laura Preston Englebright in 1987, who passed in 2014. Loren was dedicated to his wives through prolonged illnesses until their deaths. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters who lived in the Midwest.
Survivors include three loving step children: Kay Weldon Baetzel (Dave), Jean Weldon Pulliam Penrod (Ted) and Edwin Thompson Weldon (Sheila Cleveland); six step grandchildren; 10 great step grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. 
Loren was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the Medical Corps until his honorable discharge in May of 1952. Sergeant Englebright was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. 
He was known for his fun-loving nature, sense of humor, being a collector of antiques and other fine items, his unmatched hospitality, and long, solitary nighttime walks on the avenues of Coral Gables. After moving to the retirement village, Loren made many new friends and was very active until a debilitating stroke in 2017.
Loren's life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 25, by burial with military honors at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Fla.
