Lee Roy Turpin
Lee Roy Turpin, 73, of Statham, Ga. and husband of Margie Turpin, died Wednesday, March 10, 2021. 
Born in Royston, Ga., and raised in Hartwell, Ga.; he was the son of the late William Arnold Turpin and Irene Icebell McCollum Turpin. Lee was a Vietnam Vet, and served in the U.S. Army from 1967-1969. Mr. Turpin was a welder by trade having worked and retired from Scientific Atlanta/ViaSat, previous co-owner of Custom Weld and Fab in Lavonia and lastly. Sat Caterpillar.  He served the Lord as a Youth Minister at various churches since 1976 and in ministry with the Neighborhood Gospel Missions as board member and Vice President from 1993 until his death. He was a devoted member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hoschton. 
Survivors in addition to his wife include two children, Jamie Turpin Kight and Jason (Christy) Turpin both of Statham; sister, Callie  Turpin (Ralph) Smith; brother, Billy Joe (Laura) Turpin all of Hartwell; grandchildren: Nicholas Profitt, Nathaniel Ross, Austin Turpin and Taylor Turpin and two great-grandchildren, Brenyn Stinson and Brylie Stinson. 
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Nancy Hart Memorial Park in Hartwell. Memorials may be made to N.G.M (Neighborhood Gospel Ministries) Baptist Church, 602 Bethesda Church Road, Lexington, GA 30648 or Oak Grove Baptist Church, 4921 Jackson Trail Road, Houschton, GA 30548. 
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, was in charge of arrangements.
