Larry Paul Cooper, 73, of Cumming, Ga., succumbed to heart failure at the comfort of his home on February 18, 2020. Larry was a quick witted, fun loving man who never wanted to be the center of attention but loved making people laugh.
Larry is survived by his daughter Julie Marie Cooper, son Paul Maxwell Cooper, his daughter-in-law Kristen Marie Cooper and his grandson Austin Maxwell Cooper.
Larry was born in Natchitoches, La. He was the son of the late Walter Bennett and Rita Yvonne Cooper and grew up in Hartwell, Ga. with his mother, father and late brother Carl Cooper. As a young man, Larry was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved all things water and would spend countless hours on the lake or at the beach. He also enjoyed tennis, swimming, basketball and watching NASCAR.
He was an Army vet and worked as a mechanical engineer for 20 plus years but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health. He then spent his free time helping local businesses and rebuilding cars. In his latter years Larry moved to Georgia to be closer to his family and watch his only grandson grow up.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cooper was held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 21, at Nancy Hart Memorial Park, 1171 Royston Hwy., Hartwell.
A special thank you to Brookdale Assisted Living, Shelby, N.C., The Villas at Canterfield, Cumming, Ga., Golden Rules Hospice and Loving Care Senior Concierge for care given to Larry in his late years. Additional appreciation goes out to Loann Meekins and Coile and Hall Funeral Directors for support.
The family has chosen the Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson St., Hartwell, to arrange and conduct all services.
