Judy Galletly
It is with much sadness, but also great joy, that the family of Judy Elizabeth Harris Galletly announce her passing from this world to her eternal home in Glory. Judy changed her residence on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at approximately 8:30 a.m. at her daughter's home in Hoschton, Ga.
Judy was born October 21, 1951 in Royston, Ga., the daughter of Alfred W. Harris and Allene Benton Harris of Canon, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Judy was a graduate of Hart County High School and the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing. She was a resident of Birmingham, Ala., until recently.  She served in the nursing profession for more than 40 years, mostly in private practice. She battled both kidney and cancer diseases bravely for several years, but passed peacefully in the presence of her son and daughter.  She was an active member of her Baptist Church in Birmingham, until her illness prevented activity there.
She is survived by her son, Trey Galletly and his wife Vivian of Marietta, Ga., and her daughter, Laura Beth Short and her husband John of Hoschton; four grandchildren: Billy Galletly, Bannie Galletly, Bea Galletly, and Powell Short. She is also survived by her brothers: Barry A. Harris and his wife Linda of Canon, and Randall B. Harris and his wife Pat of Cumming, Ga.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
According to her wishes, she will be cremated and, due to the CoronaVirus, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on a date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to:  The National Kidney Foundation, The Melanoma Research Foundation, or Green Valley Baptist Church of Hoover, AL. The families are at their respective residences in Marietta, Hoschton, Canon, and Cumming, Ga.
Hamilton Mill Chapel of Buford, Ga., is in charge of the arrangements.
