George "Bates" Kelley III, passed away at age 70 on December 20, 2019 while in hospice care in Daytona, Fla.
Bates was born in Orlando, Fla., on Oct. 11, 1949 to parents the late George Bates Kelley Jr. and Martha (McMullan) Rice Kelley. Bates was a lifelong member of Sardis Baptist Church in Hartwell, a graduate of Hartwell High School Class of 1966 and attended Georgia Tech University. He was owner and operator of Kelley Barns and Fencing.
Bates is survived by his son, Colin Patrick Kelley; daughters, Shannon Claire Kelley (Helen Wilson) and Samantha Marie Kelley; grandchild, Campbell Jude Wilson and brother, Tim Kelley (Michelle Covi). He was predeceased by his wife Darcy.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Sardis Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sardis Baptist Church.
