Evelyn Sanders

Mrs. Evelyn Holcomb Sanders, 88, of Hartwell, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born on May 21, 1931 in Lavonia, Ga., she was the daughter of the late William Holcomb and Mary Bradley Holcomb. Mrs. Sanders was retired from Newton Mills and a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Forever Young and former choir member.
Survivors include her sons: Arlen Holcomb (Caryn) of Eastanollee, Ga. and Jimmy Sanders (Sandra) of Bowersville, Ga.; a daughter, Ann Skelton Pitts (Ken) of Winder, Ga.; a sister, Emily H. Mahoney of Hartwell, Ga.; a brother, Tom Holcomb of Abbeville, Ga.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Earl "Early" Sanders; six brothers: Ralph Holcomb, Swain Holcomb, Winfred Holcomb, John Hoyt Holcomb, Roy Holcomb and George Holcomb and three sisters: Louise H. Wood, Retha H. Bowers and Pat H. Barrett.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 29, at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Webb and Rev. Caleb Bond officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
