Mrs. Elva Jim Martin Alewine went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 7, 2020.
A Lavonia resident, formerly of Hart County, she  was 88 years old.
Survivors include her only child, Cathy and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband and love of her life, Carter, passed away in 1993, they were married for 44 years.
Elva was the youngest child of David and Mary Brown Martin. She was the remaining sibling of five children. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, brothers: Edsel and Dorsey Martin, and sisters: Mary Helen Morris and Juanita Lamb.
Elva was family oriented and involved in genealogy. She along with her cousin researched the family. One of their findings was the family were pioneers of Hart County. Their article was published.  She was so proud of this accomplishment.
Elva graduated from Hart County High School and took business courses to further her career. She worked for the school system for many years. She retired from Heritage Inn Nursing Home as an Administrator's Assistant.
 She was a long time member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where she was a GA Director and taught Training Union along with her husband.
A memorial service celebrating Elva's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at the Cross Roads Baptist Church in Hartwell with the Rev. Sean Payne officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center, 3636 Lavonia Hwy., Hartwell, GA 30643 or the Hart County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1062, Hartwell, GA 30643. She loved the Lord, her church, family and she loved her cats.
She will be remembered as a loving person and good friend.
