Dorothy "Dot" Tallent King, 86, of Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at her home.
She was a former battery filler for Springs Industries. She was a nursery worker for more than 30 years at the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, where all the children called her "Ms. Dot".  Mrs. King was also a Shrinette for several years, and a member of the Mt. Olivet Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Roger Harris (Andi) of Hartwell; one brother, Bobby Tallent of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Lillie Mae Springs of Winter Haven, Fla.; two granddaughters that she thought of like the daughters she never had: Angie Scarborough and Traci Moon both of Elberton; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren: and six great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jimmy Harris; second husband, Clyde "C.L." King; four sons: Billy Harris, Dennis Harris, John Harris, and Jerry Harris; and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Church of God.  Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the Mt. Olivet Church of God with the Rev. Wesley Allen and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Church of God Cemetery.
