Herbert Carl Sanders, 80, of Lavonia Highway, Hartwell, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at his home.
Born on December 10, 1940 in Anderson, S.C., he was the son of the late Floyd Isom Sanders and Annie Mae McCoy Sanders.  Mr. Sanders was a retired truck driver for the Yellow Freight Company, and a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mahala Bratcher Richey Sanders of the home; son, Brian Sanders of Anderson; two daughters: Pam Hart of Carnesville and Pat Elrod of Bowman; three brothers: Harold Sanders of Anderson, Boyce Sanders of Anderson; and Doug Sanders of Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Gaynelle McAbee of Belton, S.C.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronnie Sanders; and a grandchild, Shelby Elrod.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with the Rev. Sean Payne officiating. Burial was in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
