Barry M. McCurley, 73, of Crumps Road, Hartwell, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at his daughter's home.
Born on July 19, 1946 in Royston, Ga., he was the son of the late Edgar Benton McCurley and Marie Chastain McCurley. Mr. McCurley was the owner/operator of Custom Crafts for more than 40 years and a former member and captain of the Nancy Hart Fire Department. He was also a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and the Pete Craft Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Sanders McCurley; two daughters: April Todd (Michael) of Hartwell and Deborah McCurley of Lavonia; a son,   David McCurley of Hartwell; two sisters: Bonnie Hill (William) and Doris Skelton (Wayne) all of Hartwell; three grandchildren: Austen Whitworth, Nicole Robinson and Adam Haworth; four great-grandchildren: Caden, Colton and Carsen Robinson and Summer Haworth and three special friends: Gary Mathis, Tommy Wilson and Larry Sanders. Mr. McCurley was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Nan McCurley.
Barry wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 5, at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Webb and Rev. Gary Willett officiating.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
