Arthur Johnson
Arthur Johnson, 99, of Canon, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at his home.
He was born on December 11, 1921 in Hart County, son of the late Jack Johnson and the late Anna Price Johnson. He was a farmer and lifetime member of the VFW. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII and a former POW.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Hart Johnson; great-grandson, Nathaniel Norris Johnson; daughter-in-law, Pat Johnson; son-in-law, Cleveland Smith; brother, Lee Johnson, and sisters, Lena Johnson and Jean Floyd.
Survivors include sons, Johnny Johnson (Pat) of Ellijay, and Samuel Johnson of Canon; daughters, Carolyn Smith and Janie Burdette (Billy) both of Canon; grandchildren, Tracy Hendrix (Robert), Roger Smith, Bradley Johnson (Jessica), Parker Johnson (Caitlin), Justin Burdette (Nicki), Hilaree Hudson (Ben), Elliott Burdette (Ashley) and Trish (Pedro) Martinez; 14 great-grandchildren and one on the way in July; five great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ellen Johnson of Hartwell.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Rose Hill Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, May 6, with the Rev. Tommy Childress and Ms. Tracy Hendrix officiating.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 12:30 until funeral hour on Thursday afternoon.  The family is at the home.
