Charles Forbes

 Charles Allen Forbes, age 88, of 94 Cade Street in Hartwell, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Hartwell Health and Rehab.
He was born September 21, 1931 in Boston, Ma., to the late Charles F. Forbes and Clementine Hines Forbes. Charles retired from the Needham, Ma. Police Department with 27 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served as an MP. Charles loved gardening and furniture restoration and he also served as past president of the Hartwell Rotary Club. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church and former member of Hartwell First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Gaines Forbes; daughters, Sharon Forbes of Jefferson, Ga. and Charlotte Frier of Summerville, S.C.; step-children, Cindy Saucier of Athens, Ga., Steve Seawright of Hartwell, Ga., and Ernie Seawright of Decatur, Ga.; sister, Joyce McGehee of Abilene, Texas and his aunt, Thelma Dicky of Nova Scotia; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marlis Kirn: mother of Sharon and George Forbes, Dorothy Donnely Forbes, and son, George Forbes.
Services celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m.  Saturday, Oct. 5, from Cokesbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Jarvis and Rev. Dean Kring officiating. Private burial will be at Nancy Hart Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Cokesbury UMC, P.O. Box 216 Hartwell, GA 30643. 
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will be at their respective homes.
