Remembering Dolly Parton in Hart County

"Global icon and humanitarian, Dolly Parton, known to the world as a beloved singer, songwriter, philanthropist, actress, playwright and author died peacefully today in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 years old," a statement on the singer's social media announced Tuesday, Aug. 25. During the 1970s, Dolly, alongside country music stars like Porter Wagoner, Mel Tillis, Conway Twitty and others performed at the Shoal Creek Country Music Park in the Lavonia portion of Hart County.
