A couple of unoccupied elementary schools are on the market in Hart County.
The Hart County Board of Education voted 5-0 Monday night at its regular meeting to put the Nancy Hart Elementary and Airline Elementary properties up for bid.
The board had previously approved the properties for surplus, but decided it was a good time to put them on the market.
Board member Matthew Honiotes said Airline Elementary is “folding in on itself” and that the property could be used better.
Superintendent Jaybez Floyd said they’ve already had “several entities that have expressed interest in both properties.” He also said they were still paying quite a bit of money for insurance on the schools and other expenses.
“Lets put them up there and see what happens,” Honiotes said at the meeting.
Honiotes motioned to put both the properties up for bid. Board member Lonnie Robinson seconded the motion and the measure passed 5-0.
