Lake Hartwell Voices

A pair of musical performances will come to life in Hartwell Sunday, May 17.

The day begins with Lake Hartwell Voices' concert, titled "Sing Together," at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hartwell. Doors open at 2 p.m.

The group last performed a Christmas concert in December.

"We truly appreciate the community support that Lake Harwell Voices and our musicians receive.  It never ceases to amaze me how many people attend and how warmly we are received," Director Cara Lee Smith said. "We began our rehearsals shortly after the first of this year and have been going strong ever since.  The 55 people in the choir, our soloists and other accompanists, led by Beth Newey, have been working hard.  They are very excited to perform on Sunday."

The Lake Hartwell Voices was originally the Hart Area Community Chorus and performed at the Hartwell Arts Center.  Throughout the last few years, the choir's reputation grew and became more popular. When more members joined, the group needed a large rehearsal and performance space. St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Hartwell opened its doors for the choir's rehearsals. Smith and Newey have been partners in many musical endeavors since attending Emmanuel College. Their extended community of vocalists, musicians and artists has been showcased during past Lake Hartwell Voices concerts.

"We will have some fun music and solos at the "Sing Together" concert that will leave everyone with an inspirational feeling," Smith said.

Parking is available in the lots surrounding the First Baptist Church Hartwell and where permitted, along the streets. The Lake Hartwell Voices is part of The Arts Center of Hartwell.  As a non-profit, the Lake Hartwell Voices welcomes donations to help continue supporting the community.
