Tragedy struck a Hart County teacher’s family over the weekend when their home was severely damaged by a fire.
The home, located at 202 Christmas Tree Road, went up in flames around 5:24 p.m. on Sunday with no one inside, according to a Hart County Fire Department report.
“It looks like the fire started somewhere around the front porch, front door area,” Hart County Fire Chief Jerry Byrum said.
The front wall, living room area and an adjacent room received “heavy damage” from the blaze, Byrum said.
Byrum couldn’t speculate as to what caused the fire, but the insurance company is currently investigating.
“I’m going to say they’ll probably rule it a complete loss,” Byrum said about the damage.
