An annual 5K and fun run is going to be a lot more colorful this year.
Evie’s Run, the fourth-annual fundraiser 5K to raise money for pregnancy and infant loss initiatives hosted by Hart County High School, will be a color run on Oct. 19, in which participants are covered in brightly colored powder at the finish line. Color runs typically emphasize fun over competition and have become popular for fundraising events throughout the world.
The local event is named for Evie, the daughter of business education teacher Bray List, who was lost to sudden infant death syndrome when she was four-months old. All proceeds from the event will go to  aiding families dealing with infant loss, miscarriage, premature birth and infertility. All the money raised will be split equally between the March of Dimes and First Candle organizations for research, bereavement counseling and education.
“We strive to make Evie’s Run an event to lovingly remember and celebrate these sweet babies’ marks on our life,” said Amanda Ayers, an art teacher at Hart County High School and an organizer for the event.
Sponsorship opportunities are available in packages ranging from   $100 to $500.
Runner registration is $20, or $15 with no T-shirt. Family rates also are available.
Race day registration is available and will open at 7:30 p.m.
The race begins and ends at the High School track.
