Boys soccer notches another win

A second-half goal locked up the Hart County High School boys’ soccer team’s third win of the season Tuesday, as the girls’ team continues to struggle.
Hart County defeated non-region Rabun County 1-0 on the road, Feb. 23, to move their overall record to 3-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs fell short 2-0 on Friday, Feb. 19, against North Hall in Gainesville after Hart County’s originally scheduled opponent, Washington-Wilkes, rescheduled for later in the season.
Renso Escobedo scored the lone, game-winning goal for the Bulldogs against Rabun County on Tuesday about five minutes into the second half. The assist to Escobedo came off a cross from left mid-field from J.G. Genchi. Escobedo had several shots on goal and near misses in the match.
The Hart County girls’ squad continued its struggles as their overall record moved to 0-4 this week.
The girls fell 10-0 against North Hall on Friday and dropped Tuesday’s game against Rabun County 9-0.
Both teams are scheduled to play a non-region game at Athens Christian on Thursday, Feb. 25. The girls begin at 5 p.m. with the boys beginning at 7 p.m.
Hart County is scheduled to travel to Stephens County on Tuesday, March 2 for the teams’ first Region 8-AAA match of the year against the Indians.
