Dozens of employees crowded the conference room at Royston LLC Monday to bid well wishes to a man who has been a familiar face at the plant for decades.
Terry Norton, known by many people as the “shelving man,” retired from his engineering position this week after 50 years of service to the plant.
After all that time, it’s no wonder droves of employees and friends showed up to honor Norton, who is considered a mentor and friend by so many of his peers, they say.
Plant manager David Fulghum highlighted Norton’s impact, both professionally and personally.
“If you look around this plant, and the office especially, a lot of the people that grew up in the plant are up here because there were some great people that came out of the plant,” Fulghum said. “Mr. Norton is one of those. Terry, on behalf of the plant, thank you for what you’ve done. I consider you a friend, a great engineer, lots of help.”
