EDITORIAL: Thank you to those who bring the holidays to life

Last weekend was full of holiday cheer and spirit as a multitude of events took place throughout the community.

Performances at the Hart County Community Theatre, put on via talented local young actors and a crew of volunteer adult directors, brought smiles to audiences both young and old.

The Hartwell Service League's annual Tour of Homes gave the community a chance to see a variety of architecture and design right here in our backyard, thanks to those who volunteered to showcase their homes. Proceeds from the event will go right back into the community to support a variety of programs, scholarships and individuals throughout the coming year.

The VFW's annual Wreaths across America event brought out volunteers both young and young at heart to honor our community's veterans by placing wreaths on graves across the county. Every name of every veteran was read by the wreath-layer, and fellow veterans saluted their servicemen while others paused for a moment of remembrance.

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce organized a festive and fun Christmas parade that brought the streets of Hartwell to life on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon. Despite the chills, the event was a hit for all those in attendance, especially those who enjoyed both tossing and picking up candy.

Along with those notable events, other clubs and organizations held annual Christmas parties, year-end celebrations, food drives and more.

Residences hosted Christmas light displays, businesses offered deals for shopping local and Lake Hartwell Voices put on a moving concert of songs from talented local performers to set the tone for the Christmas season.

If you did not take advantage of one of the many offerings our community had last weekend, you missed out on some of the things that make it the most special.

A tremendous thank you to everyone who had a part in bringing the holidays to life through one of these events.

A lot of behind the scenes work goes into organizing an event, parade, concert, tour, etc., and the work each and every person put in should be applauded and recognized.

Our community is blessed and fortunate to have so many who care about bringing magic for others to enjoy right here at home.

We hope and encourage you to continue finding magic right here in your backyard throughout the rest of this holiday season. When you do, remember to thank all of those who made it possible behind the scenes.
