Another death attributed to COVID-19 was added to Hart County’s total this week, as nearly one-fifth of the county reaches full vaccination.
As of Monday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports 37 people in Hart County have died from COVID-19, an increase of one from the previous week, with 15 additional deaths listed as “probable” COVID deaths.
The death comes as 18% of Hart County is considered fully vaccinated, meaning they have had both doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The DPH reports 10,052 vaccines have been administered in Hart County, about 22% of residents, with 4,544 folks considered fully vaccinated.
About 87% percent of the residents in Hart County who have been vaccinated are 45 years old and above, according to DPH data.
In the past two weeks, 14 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Hart County, according to DPH data. In total, Hart County has seen 1,702 cases since the DPH began tracking the data in March 2020.
Statewide, more than 5.3 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered. More than 3.3 million Georgia residents, or 32%, have received their first dose of the vaccine, while more than 2.1 million, or 20% of residents, are considered fully vaccinated.
There have been 17,241 confirmed deaths from COVID-19 in Georgia since the DPH began tracking the data. More than 869,000 total COVID-19 cases have been reported in Georgia.
“Over the last twelve days, public health officials and our partners in the private sector have administered 1 million vaccines,” Gov. Brian Kemp said in a news release last week. “I greatly appreciate their hard work, and continue to urge all Georgians to schedule their appointment today at myvaccinegeorgia.com or dph.georgia.gov.”
