The Art Center is planning to reopen on May 14 and will do so by bringing back the student art exhibit that was closed three days after it opened due to the novel coronavirus pandemic response.
Art Center officials said the student exhibit will be on display until June 6 to allow the artists and their families time to see their art on display.
That exhibit will be followed by the annual juried art show, which is set to open June 18. Artists can submit their work at The Art Center on June 7 and 8. Details for participating will be available at The Art Center on May 14. The juried exhibit provides a venue each year for artists throughout the area and offers a wonderful opportunity for the community to enjoy and appreciate our region’s talents, organizers said.
The annual young people’s art camp at The Art Center is tentatively scheduled for July 6-10 for ages 6-10, and July 13-17 for ages 9-14. Details and registration information will be available at The Art Center beginning May 14. The art camp is hands-on and interactive, so a final decision with regard to holding this year’s camp will be made as more health information becomes available, organizers said.
The Connections for Special Parents exhibit, originally planned to open April 23, has been rescheduled for Aug. 13 and to run through Oct. 3. It will be followed by the annual photography exhibit.
The Art Center, located on the Hartwell Square, is open each week, Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors will be asked to maintain social distances and to refrain from touching works on display.
