Christmas tree is ready to light

The annual Christmas Tree Lighting will kick off the holiday season on Tuesday and include more fun activities than ever before.

The Hart County Board of Commissioners and the Hart County Chamber of Commerce will host the lighting from 5-7:30 p.m., Nov. 26, at the courthouse square in downtown Hartwell.

The event will include music, carolling and a visit from Santa. Starting this year, there will also be a Christmas Village where local businesses, churches and organizations will provide free games and activities for kids.

“We wanted to add more for the kids to do,” director of the Hart County Chamber of Commerce Christine Blomberg said. “This is a way for businesses and organizations to give back to the community.”

The event is free and is open to the public to attend.

“This year, we’ve got some singers who are coming and we’ve got some dancers who are going to come out,” Blomberg said. “Its just going to be a whole night of fun.”

The annual Christmas Parade is set for Dec. 8, at 4 p.m. Registration for participation is open now at www.hart-
