Hart Co. 4-H’ers gain hands-on experience in agricultural engineering

Story submitted

Eleven middle school 4-H’ers from Hart County attended “Mission Make-It” at Rock Eagle 4-H Center on August 20. This immersive learning experience focused on agricultural engineering and offered hands-on engineering activities, with a 2022 theme of “Rooted in Agriculture.”

This event allows students to learn about the engineering design process and then work in small groups to build functional examples of the concepts they learn. Trained high school 4-H’ers, known as Teen Leaders, guided their younger peers through interactive workshops centered on wheelbarrows and windmills, two inventions that have impacted agricultural operations across the world for centuries. In addition to teaching about the engineering process, these workshops also foster teamwork, planning, and communication skills.
