The man arrested for the murders of Jerece Teasley and Alexius Spencer was denied bond by the magistrate court but is scheduled to appear before superior court later this month.
Norwood was arrested May 10 and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of felony murder, two counts of murder, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, tampering with evidence, possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and terroristic threats and acts.
Hart County Sheriff’s Office lead investigator Chris Carroll said investigators initially connected Norwood to the crime by his silver Chevy Equinox, which matched the description of a vehicle seen on video from nearby Rose Acres Farm.
Norwood was denied bond by the magistrate court last week because magistrate judges cannot set a bond for felony murder in the state of Georgia.
Norwood is scheduled to have a bond hearing with the Superior Court of Hart County on May 23, at 9:30 a.m. at the Hart County Courthouse. Norwood will appear remotely from the Hart County jail using VTC technology.
While the case is still under investigation by the Georgia Department of Investigation, Hart County sheriff Mike Cleveland said his office is not involved in the case anymore.
“We’re through. We’ve got our shooter. He’s in jail and until court time, we’re finished,” Cleveland said on Friday, May 13.
Karen Buchanan, a friend of Spencer’s family, has set up a Gofundme page to help with funeral expenses and to “hopefully raise some funds” for Spencer’s two sons.
The page is titled “Donate in loving memory of Alexius Spencer” and had raised more than $4,000 as of May 17.
