A single vehicle fatality on Highway 368 (Anderson Highway) near Harmony Road in Elbert County claimed the life of a Hartwell man Tuesday afternoon.
Jace Matthew Moorhead, 23, of Liberty Hill Church Road, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Elbert County Coroner Chuck Almond.
Just before 4 p.m., Almond said witnesses saw Moorhead’s vehicle leave the roadway and then cross back over the roadway before going through a ditch and crashing into a fence. The crash then propelled the vehicle into a tree and Moorhead was ejected from the vehicle.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.
