Hart county cleans up at Pig Classic

The third-annual Lake Hartwell Pig Classic, sponsored by Georgia Poultry Equipment Co. and more than 30 other businesses and organizations, brought 225 pigs along with the competitors who work with them to the Hart County AgriScience Center on Saturday, Dec. 7.
There were more than 108 exhibitors from all over the state at the center for the show, put on every year by the Hart County FFA.
Hart County students did well at the event and notched several championships.
Trey Chafin won the intermediate division in the showmanship category and also was awarded Grand Champion Gilt in the Hart County local show.
Piper Bond was awarded Grand Champion Barrow in the Hart County local show.
Jacob Adams won Reserve Champion Gilt in the local show.
Larson Craft won Reserve Champion Barrow.
Aside from Chafin’s win in the showmanship competition, Tyler Hardmon took eighth place in the junior division and Allison Teel finished in seventh place in the novice division.
In the Market Classes, Larson Craft placed third in Class 6, Bond finished in fourth in Class 7 and Chafin continued his success in Class 10 by winning first place.
Chafin also was named Overall Georgia Born and Bred Reserve Champion.
