The second-annual REACH Hart Prom for Grownups is set to return on July 21 with a “Great Gatsby” theme.

The inaugural event in 2019 was successful in its support of the REACH Hart Community Education Foundation, said foundation director Anna Hall.

“Last year went very well,” Hall said. “We raised a couple thousand dollars and we hope to continue with that momentum again this year.”

REACH stands for Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen. The local foundation supports local students receiving the statewide REACH Scholarship, the Hart College and Career Academy and Hart County’s Teacher of the Year program, among other local educational initiatives.

Hall said the first-ever class of local REACH scholars are entering their junior year of high school in August and she looks forward to seeing their progress continue.

“We’re excited to see them move along and transition into college or a career,” Hall said.

The grownup prom offers folks a chance to support the foundation’s educational initiatives while also having a little fun in the process.

Big Teach, a band made up of music and theater educators in the Hart County Charter System, will headline the event again and bring their unique and fun-loving style to Southern Hart Brewing Co. in downtown Hartwell for the prom.

Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served and a bar will be available. There will also be a silent auction and 50-50 raffle.

The REACH Hart Prom for Grownups will be from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, at Southern Hart Brewing Co. in downtown Hartwell.

Roaring 20s, Great Gatsby style attire is welcomed, but there is no required dress code.

Tickets will be on sale at the Hart County Chamber of Commerce office on Carolina Street in Hartwell, the Hart County Board of Education office on Campbell Street, The Hartwell Sun on Benson Street or at Southern Hart.

Tickets are $30 per person with cash or check.
