The rain held off just long enough Friday, Sept. 11 for VFW Post 8076 to hold a glorious flag display for Patriot's Day. As the wind blew, a group of approximately 75, made up of members of the post, VFW Auxiliary and guests unfurled the stadium-sized flag between the back of the post and the banks of Lake Hartwell. As Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" played over speakers, attendees sang and helped wave the flag underneath another that hung from the ladder of a Hart County Fire Department ladder truck above. The stadium flag was made possible by Joy Stovall of Woodmen Life.
