A downtown building will  soon be the new home for the Hart County Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber announced recently it will be moving from its current location on East Howell Street to 10 South Carolina Street. The move is expected to be finished sometime in January.
Executive director of the chamber, Christine Blomberg, said the chamber liked its old location, but needed more space to accommodate the growth Hartwell has seen and is expected to continue seeing.
“We’ve been thinking and talking about it for a while,” Blomberg said. “But we finally had an opportunity and we’re excited to take the next step and have our own place.”
Blomberg said the 1,800-square foot building the chamber is moving into will provide more space and a more professional atmosphere.
“It’s in a really perfect space for what we need,” she said.
The move also re-locates the chamber of commerce further into downtown Hartwell near a hub of local businesses.
“We’re excited to be downtown. There’s so much going on downtown it’s like the heartbeat of the community,” Blomberg said.
A ribbon-cutting will be held once the move-in is complete. That date will be announced later.
