Building a viable Conference Center, Corporate Retreat and Destination Wedding Venue was the goal in March of 2017 when Charly and Kelli Schell purchased Cateechee. They wanted out-of-town guests to connect with Hartwell and keep coming back. They recently announced Club House Village, a gated community with 10 cottages and nine cabins within walking distance of the clubhouse, amenities, event venue and Leadbetter Golf Academy. Being a homeowner at Cateechee comes with perks and privileges such as lower dues, personal golf carts and income from participation in the lodging program. The Club House Village is the first of five phases of development to expand lodging and living with amenities at Cateechee. The golf course is Georgia’s only Audubon Certified Signature Sanctuary and is managed by UGA Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources graduate, Savannah Schell. Cateechee recently worked with Hart County Schools to teach students about water conservation, soil management, irrigation systems, and vegetation, among other eco-centered topics with the First Green program.
