The  Artsy-Crafty Yard Sale is coming to The Art Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. Anyone who has a closet full of unused or nearly forgotten arts and crafts materials, such as how-to books, picture frames, posters, patterns, fabric and yarn, is invited to participate.
Individuals may choose to participate in one of two ways — either rent a table for $15 and sell their own items, or make a tax deductible donation of arts and crafts materials for sale by The Art Center. The Art Center will also offer canvases, including work by the late Pat Durkee and other arts materials for sale.
Registration to rent a table for the sale will be open during art center hours through Saturday, Sept. 28. Donations will be accepted through Thursday, Oct. 3.
Table set-up will be 8:30-10 a.m. on sale day. Participants will be responsible for their own sales during the event. Table rental registration forms are available at The Art Center and at Elsiebee Originals on Depot Street.
The Art Center is at 338 E. Howell Street on the square in Hartwell. It is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays. The center’s phone number is 706-376-2040. For further information contact The Art Center or Martha West at mwest@hartcom.net.
Proceeds of the sale will be used to support arts programs, exhibits and other events. The Art Center is the home of the Hart Regional Arts Council. It is operated entirely by volunteers. In addition to a full year’s schedule of exhibits open to the region’s artists and craftpersons, the council provides a summer art camp and the pre-Christmas Mistletoe Market. Its affiliates include the Hart Community Chorus and the Photography Guild. It supports visual arts programs in the schools, both financially and through the annual young artists’ art exhibit.
