The Love Him Love  Them Ministry in Lavonia needs volunteers to help with its 5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.
This year, the ministry will deliver food to more than 2,000 individuals who are homeless or homebound in Franklin, Stephens and Hart counties.
Volunteers are needed to help organize requests, prepare and deliver the food, and clean up at the end of the day. They will have an informational meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Boyd Outz Family Learning Center, 84 Hartwell Road in Lavonia. If you cannot donate your time, you can purchase food, donate food, cook food, or donate goods (blankets, towels, coats, jackets, household items, etc.)
“Five years ago, after spending four days cooking to prepare for my family of six, we sat down and ate it in 10 minutes, and there were mounds and mounds of food left. It just really irritated me,” Co-founder of Love Him Love Them Ministry Linda Gunter said. “We took all the leftovers and we made them up into 11 plates. We went out into the community ourselves and we delivered into the housing projects to people who weren’t celebrating thanksgiving.”
Gunter said they have doubled the amount of meals they have delivered every year.
“Love Him Love Them is a non-profit and our job is to  give hope, touch lives, and change hearts. This is an opportunity for us to bring churches, individuals, and corporations together where there’s not any competition,” Gunter said. “We can come together as a community as a whole, ministries, churches, everyone, to serve those who are here.”
Individual or corporate donations are welcome as well.
