9th District cooling-bill assistance avilable

Households in Hart County that have not received heating or cooling assistance since November 2019 will again be eligible for the aid through Ninth District Opportunity, Inc., beginning on July 1. 

Eligible applicants can contact Ninth District’s scheduling system starting at 12:01 a.m., July 1, by calling 888-636-3125 or go online to www.ndo.org/eap. The phone number previously provided to The Sun and that was published was incorrect. Use the phone number listed here to schedule a time. 

One time payments of up to $400 will be made by check to service providers on behalf of the eligible households. Eligible housholds must be responsible for their home cooling costs. 

Phone lines and website scheduling will not be active until the opening date and no appointments will be made by telephone or online until then. No walkins will be accepted. 

Only households that have not had heating or cooling assistance since November 2019 may apply. Applicants who do not meet the criteria will be denied and may apply again on Aug. 3, 2020 if money is available. 

Ninth District Opportunity, Inc., is a private, nonprofit corporation founded in 1967 to carry out the mandate of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. It’s stated purpose is to work in partnership with low-income people, promoting access to opportunities leading to self reliance, development and determination.
