GBI charges Hart County teacher with felony sex crimes

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations confirmed Tuesday evening Jan. 4 that it has arrested Corinna Crumpton, 30, of Toccoa in reference to an investigation that began in December of 2021 at the request of the Hartwell Police Department.   

“Agents charged Crumpton on Jan. 4 with sexual assault and electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor, both felony charges,” a release from the GBI said. “The crimes took place between August and December of 2021. Crumpton is a Hart County High School teacher.”

The release said the investigation is “active and ongoing.”

When asked Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, for details on Crumpton’s alleged crimes, GBI public and governmental affairs director Nelly Miles declined, citing the active investigation.

Hart County Charter System director of communications Grayson Williams said Wednesday that Crumpton was “placed on leave.”

Hart County Sheriff’s Office clerk Madison Morris said by Wednesday morning, there was no information available regarding a bond hearing.
